Day 1
I have to work on Sunday's now so my schedule doesn't allow me to go to church. I was really disappointed because I feel like I'm at a point in my life that I really need to make sure I have an unshakeable testimony, and I am a firm believer a testimony is not just something you have, it is something you gain day by day and you work on throughout every stage of your life. So here I am with a choice to make. Do I abandon a life long of teachings and lose myself in work and every day life of a teenager? Or do I commit myself to continue to work on my testimony, alone when I have to, even though church cannot be a part of that process at this time in my life? Well I have chosen the latter. For some reason as I contemplated the perdicatment I am now, working on Sundays, I saw it as a bit of a challenge. When I considered this challenge I saw it as my own personal, spiritual trek to Zion. Obviously I am not going to walk to the Salt Lake Valley. But spiritually I want to find my own Zion. That place God has commanded and provided for me to go. That place that will bring peace, comfort and spiritual protection. The one place I will be spiritually full, if you will, and therefor eternally happy. So where is this place you ask? Where is my Zion? Years of primary, young womens and endless sacrament talks have taught me that place is the temple. So I am trekking to the Temple. But more than that. I am trekking to what will be my eternity, my forever. Spiritual knowledge I can't even comprehend at only 19, day after day of never ending relationships with the ones I love, an inner peace only achievable through God, it is so much more than physically making it to the temple. It is making it to the eternity God has prepared for me. So I am going to blog my progress, the lessons I learn, the quotes I read that uplift me and the experiences I have throughout this journey that will eventually be what my eternity is founded on. This is not just a journey. It is not just a process. This will be a trek. There will be trials I must endure, sacrifices I must make, tears will be shed and genuine laughter will follow. But ultimately this will be a Trek because in the end I will gain far more than I put into it. For what I will gain is unmeasurable to man kind, that no actions, no words, no journey could produce, but that is given at the end of my journey, piece by piece from the Godhead. Whom I only wish at the end of all this, will embrace me and say, "job well done my faithful servant."
